The New York Jets are in need of some changes at the bye week if they are hoping to make a run at an AFC Wild Card spot. The Jets will need a blistering second half to come back from their 3-5 start, but there is some talent on this team that needs to be tapped. We have already discussed Demario Davis possibly seeing more time, plus a potentially increased role for Tim Tebow, but are there other changes that can be made?
Joe McKnight: Joe McKnight has been banged up with an ankle injury, but hopefully the bye week will give him a chance to rest up and be ready for a bigger role in the offense. The Jets need speed on offense and Joe McKnight can provide it, as well as serve as a better receiving threat than Shonn Greene out of the backfield. It would be nice to see the Jets move Joe McKnight around into the slot to try and use his speed and create matchup problems and some big plays.
Antonio Allen and Josh Bush: The Jets haven't been bad at the safety position, but both Antonio Allen and Josh Bush have played well in limited time so far. With some issues at cornerback and overall team speed issues, the Jets would probably benefit from some three-safety looks on defense featuring one of these two along with Yeremiah Bell and LaRon Landry.
Aaron Maybin: Where is Mayhem? The Jets need a pass rush and Aaron Maybin has been absent, their sack leader from last season. Go to a four-man front at times on passing downs and send Aaron Maybin, Quinton Coples, Muhammad Wilkerson and Calvin Pace after the quarterback.
Jeremy Kerley, Bilal Powell, Stephen Hill: For these players it may not necessarily be all about getting them on the field more, but putting the ball in their hands more. Jeremy Kerley has continued to see his role increase, but the Jets can still do more with him. He's a budding star on a team in desperate need of one. Bilal Powell has more speed than Shonn Greene and although Greene still has a role as a workhorse, the Jets should get him the ball a bit more. Stephen Hill has been hot and cold as a rookie so far, but he is another potential big play threat that needs to be used more.
Who else needs to see the field more for the Jets in the second half of the season? Is this roster devoid of talent or is there talent not being used correctly?
