The New York Jets didn't sport a receiving corps with big names before the season started, underscoring the impact of the injury to Santonio Holmes. While young wide receivers like Jeremy Kerley and Stephen Hill (once healthy) will see their roles increase, the soft underbelly that is the bottom of the depth chart has been and will continue to be exposed. Seeing the Jets as a potential job opportunity, free agent diva wide receivers Terrell Owens and Chad Johnson have made their pitch to the Jets.
The New York Jets have some talent issues at wide receivers. Druing the broadcast of their Monday Night Football game against the Houston Texans that was apparent, which led to Terrell Owens tweeting his interest in playing for the Jets:
Not the only diva wide receiver on the market, Terrell Owens was joined by Chad Johnson in openly stating his interest. Chad Johnson (Chad Ochocinco) was actually a bit more subtle, replying to a fan on Twitter when making his pitch:
Is this really surprising? No. Two wide receivers looking to play and looking for a paycheck who know they are better than some of the players the Jets are trotting out there right now. Of course, there's more to these guys than their talent and that's what holds them back. With the way this season has gone for the Jets, and the constant attention they receive, the last thing they need is another potential distraction. The Jets proved that they can compete with the talent they have, now it's a bout getting better and making the big-time plays to push them over the top and grab some wins.
