The New York Jets have signed cornerback Aaron Berry, a desperate move that suggests the team doesn't trust Kyle Wilson. The Jets are still scrambling to replace Darrelle Revis, even using Joe McKnight at cornerback yesterday in the 34-0 loss to the San Francisco 49ers at MetLife Stadium. Kyle Wilson, a first round pick in 2010, was exposed by the 49ers in coverage.

Aaron Berry spent the last two seasons with the Detroit Lions, playing in 11 games last season. He has one career interception and started three games last season. Aaron Berry was suspended for three games in August and has had his fair share of issues off the field, including two arrests this summer.

The New York Jets signed Aaron Berry to a two-year deal today, hoping to find a way to shore up a secondary that entered the season as one of the most talented in the NFL on paper. The injury to Darrelle Revis was a massive blow and Kyle Wilson has been disappointing as his replacement. The Jets used Joe McKnight at cornerback yesterday after he spent some practice time on that side of the ball.

The Jets are hoping Aaron Berry can solidify things on the back end of the defense, but there are actually much bigger problems facing this team, especially on offense. Maybe Aaron Berry can free up Joe McKnight to return to the offense and start contributing. The Jets need help controlling the ball and scoring points. Until that happens, the defense will be left trying to clean up the mess every week.
