The New York Jets kicking battle is seemingly over, with Josh Brown tweeting thanks to the Jets in what looks like a farewell message. That would make Nick Folk the kicker once again for the Jets, his third season with the team. It was a tight battle but the Jets wanted to make a decision by today, and Josh Brown missed a field goal in last night's game against the Carolina Panthers at MetLife Stadium.

The New York Jets appear to have made their decision at kicker, with Nick Folk beating out Josh Brown for the spot. Josh Brown was 1-2 last night on field goals, with a false start pushing his missed attempt back another five yards. Nick Folk was 3-3 with a long of 46 yards, cementing his place as the Jets kicker.

Mike Westhoff said last week that this was the best competition he had witnessed. Both worthy kickers, Nick Folk and Josh Brown battled right down to the end, with one kick likely being the difference. If Josh Brown isn't picked up by another team, he will be on speed dial if Nick Folk were to be injured or begin slumping.

That's the first cut, the Jets need to make four more before 4 p.m. today.
