The addition of Tim Tebow has returned the New York Jets to their previous status as media darlings, as the team has received tons of coverage since the start of training camp at SUNY Cortland. While ESPN is camped out at Cortland, it seems like everybody is weighing in on the Jets, from President Barack Obama to New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning.

The New York Jets haven't done much to shy away from the media since the arrival of Rex Ryan. From his open door media policy to his Super Bowl guarantees, Rex Ryan is as friendly with the media as any coach in the NFL, which creates plenty of opportunities to put his foot in his mouth, and for his players to do the same.

This time, it isn't talking getting the Jets noticed, but rather the acquisition of Tim Tebow. President Barack Obama was on an Ohio radio station and discussed the Jets quarterback situation with Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow:

I don't like the idea of a quarterback controversy at the start of a season," Obama told 97.1, WBNS-FM. "So if I was a Jets fan, I'd be pretty nervous."

With all due respect President Obama, surely there are issues you are more concerned with than the Jets quarterback situation, but there is no quarterback controversy with the Jets.

Speaking of New York quarterbacks, the other guy, New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, has also been talking about the Jets quite a bit lately. Unfazed by the recent criticism from Skip Bayless, Eli Manning has taken shots at Tim Tebow and ESPN's coverage of Jets training camp:

"I told David Carr to take his shirt off after practice running sprints to see if he can get the same coverage [as Tim Tebow]," Eli Manning told reporters. He then went on to talk about ESPN, "Every time you turn on the TV, it’s the Jets, SportsCenter is camped out at the Jets complex. I think [ESPN is] moving everything from Bristol to right there to their complex over there. That will be an interesting move."

It's hard to argue with Eli Manning, who is probably a bit confused about how an 8-8 team that missed the playoffs is getting all the attention while the defending Super Bowl champions barely get any national coverage. ESPN has paraded the big names on the Jets up to the stage at Cortland to be interviewed on SportsCenter. The difference this year is that the Jets had basically opened their mouths and asked for this kind of coverage in the past, but now it's just an add-on as part of the trade for Tim Tebow.

In some ways you have to feel for Eli Manning and the Giants, who are still being treated as the No. 2 team in New York despite their recent Super Bowl wins. It goes to show, a little personality goes a long way in the media spotlight. Now the Jets must look to match what the Giants have done on the field.
