The first week of Organized Team Activities has come and gone for the New York Jets. While many are still caught up on two interceptions thrown by backup quarterback Tim Tebow in a May practice, there are some real stories after the first week. Santonio Holmes and Antonio Cromartie skipped out on some OTAs for legitimate reasons, while Matt Slauson and Bryan Thomas are still dealing with lingering injury issues.

The New York Jets secondary was a little light late in the week at OTAs, as Antonio Cromartie joined LaRon Landry in the ranks of the missing players. Cromartie skipped out to spend the long weekend with his family(insert big family joke here). Seriously, there has been some talk of a recent personal issue with Cromartie which may have prompted his absence. While Landry is still rehabbing his injury, Darrelle Revis told the media that he was also dealing with family issues.

Santonio Holmes skipped out on OTAs as soon as the media arrived on Thursday. Some thought he was just trying to avoid the rash of questions, but Holmes is headed to Germany to visit the U.S. troops over Memorial Day Weekend. Good on Santonio.

The Jets do have some other important pieces dealing with injuries in addition to LaRon Landry. Bryan Thomas, whose absence was a major factor in the Jets' struggles against the run in 2011, is still rehabbing his injured Achilles and sat out of team drills on Thursday. Matt Slauson, who played with a brutal shoulder injury in 2011, also sat out as did David Harris. Harris has a minor calf injury.
