Brandon Jacobs Says He Would Consider Joining New York Jets

After the New York Giants beat their cross-stadium rivals, the New York Jets, in December, Brandon Jacobs had some choice words for Jets head coach Rex Ryan. Now that he has played in and won his second Super Bowl with the Giants his words have softened a bit, and while his first choice is to return to the Giants, he would also consider wearing the green and white of the New York Jets, in an article on NFL.com that can be read here.

In case anyone may have forgotten what was said back in December let us refresh your memory.

"Time to shut up, fat boy!" Jacobs purportedly yelled at Ryan, after the game, according to a report by The Star-Ledger. Brandon Jacobs also told the New York Daily News that he stated to Ryan, "shut the (expletive) up" and Ryan fired back a "go (expletive) himself."

Rex Ryan, in his post-game press conference went on to say:

"We had a private conversation." He also stated, "That's all I'll leave it as. He doesn't like me. I respect him, but I couldn't care less about him."

There was more, and suffice it to say we're sure everyone reading this very much understands the type of words that were traded back and forth between the two. If you need any further refreshing the rest is contained in an article by Rich Cimini of ESPN New York.

Brandon Jacobs is also following in the footsteps of current Jet Bart Scott, who, following his "Can't wait!" exclamation with Sal Paolantonio after the Jets beat the Patriots in the divisional round of the playoffs in 2011, went on to confront wrestler Kurt Angle on a television taping of Total Non-Stop Action (TNA) wrestling's Impact program. Originally it was scheduled to be Jason Pierre-Paul, who bowed out due to exhaustion. Jacobs's episode is being taped this week to air on Thursday night on Spike TV. So after all that business in the wrestling ring, would Jacobs want to be part of the sometimes three-ring circus that is the New York Jets? Stranger things have happened. It would certainly give the Jets another bull in the backfield to run over their opponents with.

Just when we thought the off-season had started calmly, we are reminded of how the Giants started their roll all the way to the Super Bowl and one of the key components of that eventual victory, stirring bad memories in Jets fans. If Jacobs somehow really decided to sign a contract with the Jets, would Jets fans truly embrace him or hate him even more for those two Super Bowl rings he has that remind us all what the Jets still do not have as yet?
