12 New York Giants Miss Trip to Canton, Ruled Out Against Buffalo Bills

The New York Giants have not yet played a single game, but they're an injured football team. And as some of their roster boarded planes and headed to Canton, Ohio on Saturday night, 12 players stayed behind and have been officially ruled out for the Hall of Fame Game against the Buffalo Bills.

Those officially ruled out include defensive end Robert Ayers (ankle), linebackers Jon Beason (PUP – foot) and Spencer Paysinger (concussion), left tackle Will Beatty (leg), wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. (hamstring), tight end Xavier Grimble (hamstring), guard Eric Herman (hip), kick returner Trindon Holliday (hamstring), cornerbacks Bennett Jackson (ankle) and Trumaine McBride (knee), defensive tackle Mike Patterson (shoulder) and running back David Wilson (neck).

Interestingly, offensive lineman John Jerry (knee), safety Stevie Brown (knee) and wide receiver Mario Manningham (knee) do appear to have made the trip, but it remains unclear if they will see any snaps.

For the Giants and head coach Tom Coughlin, this is a rough way to start the 2014 campaign. After joining the ranks of the NFL's most injured team's in history in 2013, Big Blue had hoped to come back this year, make changes to diet and stretching, and eliminate some of these injuries — especially those of the soft tissue variety. However, despite those changes, the Giants appear to be starting right where they had left off in 2013.

Thankfully for the Giants, it's only Week 1 of the preseason and they have nearly five more weeks to heal up before the games start to count.

Good morning one and all . I enjoyed Strahans induction speech but Im still not sure what Kelly Ripa was doing there . Im assuming some kind of PR will come out of it for their show .
Im also assuming that most of these guys would be playing if it was a regular season game . It just means that the second and third stringers will get more time on the field to strut their stuff which doesnt hurt . I just hope that someone steps up and gets the chance to make the team with a good performance this afternoon .
As far as the game goes , Im still expecting a heavy dose of run game with a very vanilla passing game plan and this becomes the blueprint for the season

Ripa and Strahan are close friends off the set.

8 of the 12 that missed the trip would miss a regular season game (did the math this morning lol).
