The New York Giants will soon make official what everyone has known for the past three days — USC tight end Xavier Grimble will soon be signing as an undrafted rookie free agent.

The addition of Grimble caps off the Giants' round-up of 10 undrafted rookie free agents, including the previous signings of defensive tackles Eathyn Manumaleuna (BYU) and Kelcy Quarles (South Carolina), defensive ends Kerry Wynn (Richmond), Emmanuel Dieke (Georgia Tech) and Jordan Stanton (James Madison), linebackers Justin Anderson (Louisiana-Lafayette) and Dan Fox (Notre Dame), and safeties Thomas Gordon (Michigan) and C.J. Barnett (Ohio State).

As a result of all these signings, the team was also forced to make a few cuts. Among them were quarterback Rusty Smith, defensive backs Junior Mertile and Chaz Powell, punter Jordan Gay and linebacker Allen Bradford, who was claimed and awarded to the Jacksonville Jaguars off of waivers on Tuesday.

In addition to signing Grimble, the team was also awarded offensive tackle Jamaal Johnson-Webb off of waivers from the Buffalo Bills.

Johnson-Webb went undrafted in the 2013 NFL Draft, but was promptly signed by the Arizona Cardinals. He then bounced around to the Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings and the aforementioned Buffalo Bills. He has no regular season experience.

Nice. I am glad they finally made it official. He should be good competition for TE this training camp.

Not sure how much homework anyone has done on the UDFA’s, but considering the success Seattle has had with these players, I did some digging on our signings. Quarles is obviously a big time signing but some of these guys tested out really well at their pro days. I think the LB’s Fox and Anderson have a shot. Keep an eye on LB Justin Anderson from Louisiana-Lafayette in particular. This kid had 128 tackles which was 14th in the country, and his pro day numbers were ridiculous: 4.68 40 dash (w/ 1.60 10 yard split), 37″ vertical, 10 ft broad jump, 6.89 three cone drill, and 24 reps on the bench. we may have 2 or 3 of these guys actually make the squad.
