It's been quite some time since Plaxico Burress wore a New York Giants helmet, but during an interview with ESPN's Colin Cowherd, the Super Bowl XLII champion put one on and proceeded to poke some fun at his former teammates. He also poked some fun at himself and the New York Jets.
Burress, who currently plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers but is on Injured Reserve (IR), made several tongue-in-cheek comments about David Tyree's "average" helmet catch, shared a hazing story about then rookie wide receiver Steve Smith, and even took a few shots at himself (pun intended).
"He catches the ball, puts it on the helmet and it's like the greatest play in Super Bowl history," Burress quipped. "I've done it at least 10 times."
"In your face, David Tyree."
The video interview offers a rarely seen side of Burress, and although slightly awkward at times, is actually rather humorous. It's a fair reminder that Burress was and is a good guy, a good teammate and a hell of a player. His time on the Giants should be remembered fondly.
