For many years, we all saw Tim Allen play Tim "the Tool Man" Taylor on the hit TV show Home Improvement and in the show, his character was a die-hard fan of the Detroit Lions. Allen apparently is a life-long fan of the Lions and wasn't just a part of the show.
On Sunday, Allen dressed up for a Halloween party in Beverly Hills and showed up dressed as Matthew Stafford, the current starting quarterback of the Lions and members of TMZ.com were there to greet him when he arrived to the party dressed up in the full quarterbacks uniform. Allen was then asked about the New York Giants needing the Detroit Lions help against the Dallas Cowboys because they have been a bad team and Allen's answer was a rather shocking one.
"F— the New York Giants."
It's hard to tell if Allen really hates the Giants or if he was so much in the moment of dressing up as a football player and rooting for the Lions, that he only cared about his team and didn't care if another team needed their help. On Sunday, the Lions ended up helping the Giants out anyway by coming from behind and defeating the Cowboys 31-30 on Sunday and it was Stafford who scored the winning touchdown with a one-yard leap at the goal line and with the Cowboys losing, the Giants are now just two games behind Dallas in the NFC East division.
What's ironic about Allen making the comment about the Giants is that the team's co-owner Steve Tisch was also attending the same Halloween party in Beverly Hills, although it's not clear if Tisch was made aware of Allen's comments.
Allen's Lions will have a chance to play the Giants this season at Ford Field in Week 16 of the 2013 season on December 22.
