When the New York Giants packed up and headed to Philadelphia on Saturday, cornerback Jayron Hosley (hamstring) and defensive tackle Shaun Rogers (knee) were not with them. Both players, who had previously been listed as doubtful, were downgraded to out for week eight's game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Rogers, who has really turned back the clock on his career, was instrumental in Big Blue's ability to slow down LeSean McCoy during their week five match-up. Losing him will certainly not be a positive to the defensive, but it does allow rookie Johnathan Hankins to see action in his third game this season and built upon two solid early season performances, including a five-tackle game against the Eagles.
Hosley, meanwhile, participated on a limited basis this week, but wasn't able to go by the time the weekend arrived.
Finally, running back Brandon Jacobs (hamstring), who has missed the majority of practice over the last two weeks and was listed as doubtful on Friday, did make the trip and has at least a small chance of playing on Sunday.
Even with Jacobs making the trip, it's likely that recently signed running back, Peyton Hillis, will lead the way for Big Blue's rushing attack. Rookie Michael Cox is also expected to see a few carries.
