New Jersey governor Chris Christie has made it no secret as to how much of a Dallas Cowboys fan he is; even while he is running the state that houses one of their biggest NFC East rivals and fans of that particular team; the New York Giants.
On Thursday, the New Jersey governor decided to take another shot at the Giants after Cory Booker has recently won the vote to become New Jersey's representative to become a United States senator and took a dig at the current Newark mayor and current Giants fan.
“I'm happy, I'm happy for the mayor today with his victory last night,” said the supersized governor in his usual deadpan style. “It was the first win the Giants have gotten all year."
The comments at the press conference to announce Booker's victory for the U.S. Senate drew laughter from the crowd in attendance and Christie did not stop there as far as ragging on the Giants, as he decided to throw current Giants head coach Tom Coughlin into the speech and even mentioned Booker's former playing days from when he used to play football at Stanford University.
"Little did Tom Coughlin know he was gonna have to depend on a washed-up tight end from Stanford to get his first win of the year," Christie said with a sly smile. "But desperate times call for desperate measures, don't they, Cory?"
The comments will certainly not be appreciated by Giants fans all over the state of New Jersey, many of which may not be big fans or supporters of Christie's to begin with since he took the office of governor in January of 2010. Last month, Christie was in attendance for the Week 1 game between the Giants and Cowboys at AT&T Stadium; a game in which the Cowboys held on to win 36-31, which was the start of the Giants current six-game losing streak.
The Giants will look to get their first win of the season on Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings. For Giants fans everywhere, hopefully they will follow in their Newark mayor and now U.S. Senator's lead and get a victory.
