The fans of the New York Giants care that the team is 0-6. The fans of the other teams in the NFC East certainly care that the Giants are 0-6. The coaches definitely care that the team is 0-6 and management has to be furious that the Giants currently sit at 0-6 and dead last in the NFC East.
But what about the players of the actual Giants team itself? Eli Manning definitely is upset, as is Antrel Rolle, among players. Terrell Thomas certainly cares that the team is 0-6, which he made perfectly clear to the media on Friday after the team's 27-21 loss to the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football that the loss kept him up half the night, but he also felt that some of his current teammates don't share his mutual feelings on their record.
"I think some are, I think some don't care. Who knows? I know one thing, this team is going to fight and not going to turn against each other. Yeah. Everybody is different. Some people can lose a game and go about their day very easily. Others can't sleep at night. I'm one of those guys. I didn't get home until 4:30, and didn't get to sleep until about 6. I was just laying in bed."
When a team is 0-6, there isn't too many things to be positive about and every little thing that goes wrong gets mentioned and drawn attention to; for instance, the fact that if the Giants defense had allowed three more points, they would have been the first ever defense ever in the NFL to allow 30-plus points on defense in their first six weeks, a very dubious distinction if it actually happened; or that in the first six weeks, the Giants have all of five sacks as a unit. Some players in the league alone have more than that. When asked what the team needs to go to snap out of the current six-game losing streak to start the season, Thomas wasn't looking to lay blame and said the team just needs to do things better overall.
"Coaches better coach harder, they better put us in better situations and the players gotta make plays. That's how we're looking at it, and that's how it's going to be around here. We're not pointing no fingers, but if we lose, we lose together," he said.
For Thomas, his defense, and the rest of the Giants, they get the next 10 days to think about how they can improve and even, get one simple victory as they are one of a few teams left in the league without a victory. The Giants won't play again until Monday night, October 21 when they face the Minnesota Vikings at MetLife Stadium.
