Fans everywhere of the New York Giants have been screaming for the heads of New York Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride and defensive coordinator Perry Fewell to be fired for quite a while now.
Actually, it almost has become more of a weekly occurrence to hear the "Fire Gilbride and Fewell" rants from the Giants fans everywhere, but Tom Coughlin sure isn't listening.
Despite starting 0-5 to the regular season, the Giants head coach told the media in a press conference on Monday that he won't fire either coordinator before the team takes on the Chicago Bears. Conor Orr of the Newark-Star Ledger was the one who prompted the question to the 67-year-old head coach and got the simplest of answers to it.
While a change at either coordinator position might be warranted, it would make sense for the team to hang onto both Gilbride and Fewell due to the short week, as the Giants have to quickly turn around from their 36-21 defeat against the Philadelphia Eagles, get on a plane and head to the Windy City to take on the 3-2 Chicago Bears on Thursday night.
However, if the Giants fall to the Bears and go to 0-6; the team has more than a week before their next game to make coaching changes if the organization feels like they need to make some kind of change and if it ends up being someone like Gilbride or Fewell, or even both.
But the cold reality is that both Gilbride and Fewell are considered "Coughlin guys" as assistant coaches and ones that he's had on his coaching staff for years and in different organizations, so the likeliness of Coughlin all of a sudden deciding to fire either coach will likely not happen.
But even with Coughlin's vote of confidence in his coordinators, that simply doesn't mean the Giants fans everywhere won't stop with the demands for both guys to be sent packing as soon as possible until it actually does happen.
