It's never a fun week for a professional football player when you lose, let alone the way the New York Giants lost in Week 2 at the hands of the Denver Broncos, because they have to wait a week to get back on the field and play their next game.
Antrel Rolle knows the Giants haven't played well in their first two games, but he's also noticed another problem during the team's 0-2 start; an apparent lack of passion, something he wasn't afraid to speak up about following the 41-23 loss in Week 2 and told Conor Orr of the Newark-Star Ledger about this issue he noticed during this week in practice.
“We have a lack of excitement on the sideline, when I look up and down the sidelines, sometimes we’re in it and sometimes we’re not," Rolle said. "I don’t know what the reason is for that. This is a game we love to play. I think that’s going to take care of a lot (getting that excitement back), just playing with that extra enthusiam.”
Rolle has never been one to be shy about expressing his feelings, thus talking about the team's "lack of passion" on the sidelines during the ugly loss this past Sunday. That same passion is something the veteran safety said the Giants need to get back sooner rather than later.
"That passion and emotion is also going to carry you over and take care of a lot. We need that. We need that as a team and I think that’s something right now that we’re lacking. We need to find a way to get back to it.”
In the first two games, Rolle has been his consistent self on defense for the Giants, making 11 total tackles on defense, but overall as a group, the team has allowed 77 total points in the winless start to the season. On Sunday, Rolle can only hope the Giants find that passion and excitement he hasn't seen when they face the Carolina Panthers in their Week 3 showdown on Sunday.
