On Friday, the NFL announced that is has fined Ross $7,785 for a flagrant facemask penalty, as Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News reported; the penalty occurred early on in the second quarter after Wayne caught a six-yard pass from Andrew Luck, which then lead to Ross getting called for the 15-yard infraction.

"Giants CB Aaron Ross has been fined $7,785 for a flagrant facemask against WR Reggie Wayne last Sunday night against the Colts," he tweeted.

Ross nearly had an interception while covering Wayne, as he went to pick off Luck's pass, but the ball bounced off his hands, up into the air, and off Wayne's hands into the end zone for a first-quarter, 28-yard touchdown that put the Colts ahead 7-3 at the time. Wayne finished the game with three catches for 37 yards and a touchdown against the Giants with Ross covering him most of the game.

The fine the league has handed down on Friday is pretty much throwing salt on the open wound for Ross. The veteran cornerback will have a chance to rebound this Saturday when the Giants play the New York Jets in the team's third preseason game of the summer.

The following 11 players are either out or not expected to play for the Giants on Saturday night …
S Antrel Rolle (ankle), CB Corey Webster (knee/groin); WR Victor Cruz (heel), WR Ramses Barden (knee), WR Louis Murphy (leg); OL David Baas (knee) and David Diehl (thumb surgery); FB Henry Hynoski (knee, just activated off PUP); DE Damontre Moore (shoulder), DE Jason Pierre-Paul (back, PUP) and DT Markus Kuhn (knee, PUP).

query what Moore’s fate will now be
he practices for 2 weeks and plays 1 game and then is too hurt to play for 2 weeks and 2 games
does this mean he is essentially red-shirted for the first quarter of the season?

did Barden lose his last chance with his knee?
is Webster headed for the scrap heep?

I’m not worried about Moore as much as I would with most rookies because I think his role will be that of just a pass rusher. If he can just get back to practice next week I expect him to get legit snaps against Dallas.

Barden and players on the bubble can’t afford injuries. I think Barden was trying to fight his way on the roster anyways so this just made his climb higher. At this point I would be surprised if Barden made the roster.

Webster is fine roster wise. He will start if healthy. With vets who have established roles the preseason is more about making sure they are healthy for the regular season. Especially those players that get nicked.
