Though the status of New York Giants free agent Osi Umenyiora's football career may be up in the air, he was able to shore up a big part of his personal life. A year after receiving his second Super Bowl ring, Umenyiora was the one giving a ring away. It was reported by the New York Daily News that he recently proposed to his girlfriend Leila Lopes, aka Miss Universe 2011.

Osi, tweeted a picture of himself kissing 26-year-old Lopes with the caption "my beautiful fianceé." Their wedding is tentatively scheduled for sometime in 2014.

Lopes is a native of Angola, while the 31-year-old Umenyiora was born in England before moving to Nigeria, then the United States. The two were first introduced by publicist and President of Cole Entertainment Group B.J. Coleman during last year's fashion week. The two started dating soon after, and decided to make it official.

It will be interesting to see where the happy couple decides to call home. Only time will tell which team Umenyiora will ultimately land with.

  2. Rick021 says:

Its times like these those old Cleveland Steamer runours could ruin things for Osi. Unless…

Column from Paul Schwartz on the Dwight Freeney to the Giants frenzy. Buried at the bottom though are a couple of noteworthy FA items:

? Though LB Keith Rivers did not stay healthy or put up much production last season there’s a chance he could be back.

His agent, Andrew Kessler, yesterday told The Post “There will be discussions with the Giants about Keith returning.’’

Rivers played in just 11 games (six starts) and had 44 tackles, but he’s just 26 years old.

? WR Domenik Hixon, set to become an unrestricted free agent, wants to return and his agent, Eric Metz, said he will speak with the Giants at this week’s NFL Scouting Combine.

Fully in favor of both Rivers and Hixon being returned. Hixon is a reliable 3rd or 4th receiver, plus he plays specials and Eli trusts him.

As for Rivers, when he played (which was his main problem) I thought he looked good, plus, he’s got excellent speed and coverage ability for a linebacker. As I’ve said on several occasions, the way the league is going in general, and our division in particular with RG III and the Quack Attack comprising 25% of our schedule, we need real quick LBs.

That’s a sack if I ever saw one. Nice job chief………….

    • The Original G Man says:

How could you pass up the opportunity to use “strip sack”??

Come back after you’ve had your morning coffee, rlhjr!

rlhjr: Your a funny dude! G-MAN as well, that picture, oh well?????
