Tight end Bear Pascoe is one of 26 pending free agents for the New York Giants, and likely one of the first whom will have a contract signed prior to the start of NFL free agency in March.

The Porterville Recorder reports that Pascoe, who is slated to become a restricted free agent (RFA), will re-sign with the Giants sometime next week. This news comes by way of Sean Pascoe, Bear's Father, who informed the paper of the pending one-year agreement.
“I don’t think he’ll be getting what they were hoping,” Sean said. “At least he’s got a job, that’s the main thing.”
Pascoe's Father said the contract will likely be in the range of the league minimum, which would be somewhere around $600,000 based on Bear's NFL experience.
Since joining the Giants in 2009, Pascoe has been a versatile asset, filling in at both tight end and fullback. In 50 career games, he's hauled in 26 receptions for 252 yards and a touchdown. However, more valuable than anything he's done on the field, Pascoe has an incredible work ethic that helps motivate his teammates and younger players.
He hopes to play well in 2013 and then cash in as an unrestricted free agent in 2014.
“He’ll be able to test it real good,” his Father said of free agency in 2014.
One down, 25 more to deal with.

I’d like to have me some of whatever it is that Bear is smoking. Yeah, can’t wait till next year to cash in on free agency. Teams will be lining up to throw money at him. Right. Hold not thy breath.
Oh c’mon. Bear is a competitive guy and he’s a tough guy and he’s been a good Giant. Like you, I don’t think he’ll be taking his next contract home in a Brink’s truck, but you can’t hold his desire to earn more money against him. He’s not a whiner and he’s not going to sulk. If anything, he’ll play with a chip on his shoulder and that’s the kind of guy we want and need on this team. Guys who rip their hearts out of their chests on the field and don’t cost a fortune. No?
Bear is a very important part of the offense, Anyone that plays two positions is invaluable to any team.
Okay now here at the other end of the spectrum we have an overstatement.
Bear Pascoe is not a “very important part of the offense”. He’s a nice cheap role player with a good attitude who will play through pain and with hunger.
