New York Giants’ Terrell Thomas: “I Am Returning to Football in 2013″

Coming back from one ACL tear is tough. Coming back from two is tougher. Coming back from three is damn near impossible, but that's exactly what cornerback Terrell Thomas plans to do in 2013, and something he hopes to do with the New York Giants. The veteran announced on his blog on Tuesday his intentions for the upcoming season, and expressed his desire to return to New York.

"I am returning to football in 2013, hopefully with the Giants but my contact is up this year," Thomas wrote on his blog. "Most likely and hopefully I will be re-signing with the Giants."

Prior to last season, Thomas signed a four-year, $28.4 million deal. That includes a $6 million option bonus that kicks in in March, and it would not only guarantee Thomas' base salary of $750,000 in 2013, but much of his 2014 salary ($3.8 million total, $2.75 million guaranteed). Obviously, the Giants are likely to decline that option, but it doesn't necessarily mean his Giants career is over.

General Manager Jerry Reese has previously discussed the possibility of Thomas returning to Big Blue, but suggested a switch to safety may be in order. It's something Thomas didn't address in his blog entry, although he did mention having a lot to prove.

"I want to prove to guys that I will return as the same player that I was when I was healthy," he added.

It's a long road to come back from tearing an ACL three times, but not impossible. Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis is the most recent NFL athlete to do it, and he recorded 103 tackles in 15 games this past season – his first back from tear #3.

T2 promised continuous updates on his rehab and 30-day diet over the next month, so if you're interested in following along, be sure to check out his official website.

I love TT, but I’ve heard this before. Show me….don’t tell me. I’m going to assume the Giants will not depend on him and have a Plan B. Or is he Plan B and they have a Plan C?

I think Plan A is to keep KP, but that’s a long shot.
Then Plan B is to sign Stevie Brown to a reasonable deal and pair him with Rolle.
Plan B2 is to sign TT to a prove-it deal and work him into the mix at safety, because we know if Fewell can’t have a 3 safety set, he’s going to have to dream up something, like a 4-4 or 5-2, or possiblly a 10-1.

Luv TT and hope he can but I agree it is an extreme long shot, especially if he didn’t use Adrian Peterson’s doctor

TT just turned 28. He should be in his prime but having just sat out his 5th season with the injury, it’s safe to say that teams won’t be lining up with multi-year deals. I think there’s a pretty good chance that TT is a Giant next year. I’d love to see it.

TT would make a good backup for the giants
