The Carolina Panthers have hired New York Giants senior pro personnel analyst Dave Gettleman as their new general manager. Gettleman has been in the NFL for 25 seasons, 15 of which have been with Big Blue. He's been apart of six Super Bowl teams, three Lombardi Trophy winners and 13 playoff teams. Gettleman has been an essential aspect of Big Blue's front office since his arrival from Buffalo in 1998.

With Marc Ross still in the hunt to land a general manager job around the league, the Giants could be facing a major reconstruction in the front office in 2013. Two of the most influential player personnel advisors may be on their way out, leaving some major questions to be answered before April's draft. Regardless, Giants 101 would like to wish Dave Gettleman well in all his future endeavors.

“Dave is extremely qualified to be the general manager of the Panthers and will do a terrific job,” said General Manager Jerry Reese. “The Panthers interviewed two of the top personnel executives in the NFL in Dave and Marc Ross, and couldn’t go wrong either way, in my humble opinion.”

Raiders linebacker Rolando McClain was arrested on Tuesday for providing a false name when he was pulled over. At least, that’s why the police say he was arrested. McClain says he was arrested because the police are corrupt and out to get him.

It probably won’t help McClain’s case that the “false name” he gave police was an expletive.

At that point, McClain was asked to sign the citation, and he wrote in the space for the signature, “F–k y’all.”

*** show of hands … who still wishes we moved up to draft this loser?

    • norm says:

If McClain ever graduates to the ranks of “murderer,” a la Ray Lewis, l might be interested in seeing Reese “kick the tires.”

      Until then, pass.

    • G-MenFan says:

What a mess that franchise is. The NFL should just make one team out the Raiders, the Jets, and the Jaguars, and move it to the 7th circle of hell.

  2. Krow says:

I think we should pay Ernie Accorsi to not help any more teams by raiding our staff. Basically match whatever offers he gets.

    • LUZZ says:

Agree… Mara should send a strong message to Accorsi. Hopefully he wakes up with a horse’s head in his bed tomorrow morning.

    • norm says:

I’m still not sure what exactly Carolina just paid Ernie for.

Near as I can tell, the extent of Accorsi’s “consulting” was little more than placing a couple of phone calls to his old cronies in East Rutherford and telling them “Come on down to Kakalak. The weather’s great and those hush puppy things they eat around here are reaaaal tasty.”

Methinks we’ve just seen the end of ol’ Ernie’s consulting career. My guess is the next team that wants to raid the Giants staff simply eliminates the middle man and places the phone call to New Jersey themselves.

My favorite thing on G101 that goes on without discussion is Krow’s hatred and daily obsession for Young Whales gear, haha

    Interesting: http://espn.go.com/blog/nfceast/post/_/id/48118/nfc-east-2012s-most-injured-division

The Giants had starters missing the least amount of games in the NFC East this season.

You mean they just plain s**ked without any legitimate excuses? I was happier before I knew this ;-)
