GIANTS 101

As anticipated, the New York Giants have placed offensive lineman Sean Locklear on season-ending Injured Reserve (IR) after he suffered a "severe" knee injury during a 17-16 loss to the Washington Redskins on Monday night.

With Locklear now out for the year, the starting job once again belongs to David Diehl, who feels healthy and is up to the task.

"I'm feeling the best I've felt all season," Diehl said. "I'm just excited to get out there and play football and I feel good, feel ready to play and help our football team win games. we've got a four-game stretch and it starts with this weekend."

Taking Locklear's spot on the 53-man roster is fellow offensive lineman Selvish Capers, whom the team signed from their practice squad. This marks the second time this season Capers has been activated to the 53-man roster, having also been signed following the IR designation of defensive tackle Markus Kuhn (knee).

However, the Giants did attempt to claim Mitch Petrus off of waivers from the New England Patriots, but he was awarded to the Tennessee Titans.

Finally, with an open spot on their Practice Squad available, the Giants signed offensive lineman and Stony Brook product Paul Fenaroli, who was named the Connecticut Post Athlete of the Year in 2006-07.
