It wouldn't be New York Giants-Philadelphia Eagles week without a little jawing between Osi Umenyiora and LeSean McCoy! In fact, their back-and-forth has been so extensive in recent years that ESPN has decided to feature it on an all new episode of E:60 which aired Tuesday night at 7:00 PM EDT.
In a press release sent out by ESPN, the Eagles running back refers to Umenyiora as a "ballerina" who just happens to wear blue.
“Osi, to be honest, he is a good player. I think he thinks he’s better than what he really is. I think he’s a ballerina in a Giants uniform, but other than that that’s all I got to say about Osi," McCoy said.
Only … that's not all McCoy had to say. No real surprise there, right? He continued by saying the ongoing feud, which has seemed comical at times, is 100% real, and the hate between the two is legitimate.
“Yeah this is for real — like I don’t like Osi,” McCoy said according to an ESPN press release. “I don’t know how he feels. He might think it’s a game, but I don’t play them type of games. So every time on the field I would say stuff to him like ‘You is a bum … You are the third best defensive lineman on the defense.’ Which I didn’t lie. Wait, I did lie. He’s the fourth now, so I actually did lie.”
Umenyiora, who has often taken potshots at McCoy, refused to engage in the latest round of banter. Rather than firing off and calling him Lady Gaga or wishing him another Happy Mother's Day, Chief Osi took the high road … kind of.
“I might be a ballerina in a Giants uniform,” Umenyiora said. “I’m lucky I got the contract (a restructured deal that will pay him about $6 million this season). I’m lucky to be playing 10 years in the league, to have won two Super Bowls. All that is pure luck and I’m happy for him, I’m happy he got his contract and I’m happy everything is working out well for him in Philadelphia.”
Teammate Antrel Rolle said on WFAN Tuesday that he fully expects Umenyiora to let his play do the talking this Sunday night, and that the defensive end will be going all out.
For the Eagles, this is the second time they've engaged in a verbal assault on the Giants since Saturday night when Trent Cole said a deer is more athletic than quarterback Eli Manning.

Apparently, they were not too humbled by the beating the Cardinals put on them last week.
I can’t stand this team. Ealges have the biggest mouths in the league and never back it up.
2 points that haven’t been made about last night’s game, both with a common thread:
Blame ESPN.
1. It was their immediate and uninformed screaming that stirred up this whole mess. Not once in the hour of coverage after the play did anyone appropriately assess all aspects of the play – namely, the rules for what it means to complete a catch: possession, in the field of play, and through the entire pas he alights on the ground. They only quoted the simulateous possession rule. Never what it means to have possession. Whether it’s closer to one’s stomach or not has nothing to do with it.
2. The created false legitimacy of their claims at the time by trotting a retired ref on the set who clearly did not know the rules (which the NFL correctly stated today that the play *is* reviewable in the end zone).
I’m at work and can’t expound, but there are some unhappy suits mad at ESPN on Park Ave
Good points, Dirt. The talking heads at ESPN are still feigning outrage over the play.
Also, for whatever it’s worth, ESPN’s own play-by-play guy for the game IMMEDIATELY termed it a “simultaneous possession” situation while dudes were still rolling around on the ground.
^^^^ THIS^^^^!!!!!
THANK YOU!!!
The sound of Steve Young and Trent Dilfer getting all indignant and emotional made me sick. ESPN clearly, clearly has something against the replacement refs. Not sure whose bidding they are doing but it was obvious and disgusting.
The NFL in the form of Goodell and the owners represent “big business.” And is everyone knows, big business is evil.
Agree.
Face it … until we either sweep them in a regular season … or knock them out of the playoffs … or deliver some sort of righteous, national TV beatdown … then they’re going to talk smack … because over the last several years we’ve been their b-tch. We’ve gone on two amazing Superbowl runs … played tough, gritty, hardnosed, smart football … but when we take the field against the Birds we look scared, tentative, and stupid. Once that stops so does the talking …
sadly this is true
even last year when the eagles were completely down and out; with Vick and Maclin out of the game, we still lost
I think the Eagles tend to be like us, they are more dnagerous when counted out. Remember they were 4-8 last year so when everyone finally counted them out they win 4 straight and come within a Jets victory against us of winning the division.
The Eagles are not like the Giants. The Eagles are built and coached to beat the Giants. The Giants are built and coached to beat anybody.
That’s why the Giants have gone on those two SB runs and have the rings, and why the Eagles have their diicks in their hands.
Dirt is deftly making a point that I was going to scribble on later. Simply put … the announcers and commentators are making the ref situation much worse than it has to be.
And not just last night either. The airwaves are full of venom … and the reason is obvious … everyone knows that sooner or later these guys will be gone. Never to be heard from again. You won’t need their access … won’t interview or talk to them … won’t be getting any comments from them … you don’t have to get to know them. They’re easy pickins. A bully’s wild wet dream. And that’s exactly what’s going on … they’re bullying the daylights out of them because they’ll soon be history.
We’ve seen brutal, awful blown calls before … but never would the talking heads DARE to ra’pe the regular refs like they do these guys. Because there’re long term consequences to that. The replacement refs … it’s a free shot … fish in a barrel … you can kick them and all they can do is take it. The regular refs … well they have power … clout … and a future. They get respect. These poor devils just get the back of everyone’s hand.
ahh, love it. The common sense a float on here today is killer.
The only thing that bothers me more about the replacement refs then the regular is the intimidation factor. The refs are scarred to death to make a call for fear of players and coaches. What are the announcers and fans going to say when the regulars come back and a game is blown because of a bad call? Please being a Giants Fan we know what it’s like to have to work harder because of their inabilities. It’s actually kind of nice the rest of the NFL world is getting a taste of what we are all ready use to.
Agree 100%. This is all knee-jerk “the owners/the league should pay whatever _____ is demanding because they’re billionaires”. I’d love to see Goodell fire all of the “regular” refs ala Reagan and the air traffic controllers, but he doesn’t have the ballz.
Amen Krow and Dirt. I have been seething at the media and talking heads BASHING the replacement refs for the last 3 weeks. It has been incessant and largely uncalled for. You are right, there is no downside for them to do so and as an added bonus, they get to look righteous while doing it.
The Eagles just changed punters:
?@AdamSchefter
Eagles sign P Mat McBriar to a two-year contract and release P Chas Henry.
Occurs to me Linval Joseph could be a huge factor on Sunday night given that Philly is going with their backup center right now. After JPP, you can make a pretty compelling case that Linval has been our best defender.
The funny thing about McCoy’s Osi comments is he indirectly confirmed he thought Joseph was amongst our 3 best DL player.
Linval might be top 3 DT in the league right now.
This game reminds me of the 1st Philly game in 2008. I think it was 36-31, in a game that we controled but almost blew. I can see a similar game Sunday night. This game is also similar because it allows us to step forward as the division lead and stand amongst the unquestioned NFL elites.
This is the game that can allow us to get us to another strong first half record. With Clev, @SF, Was and @Dal coming up a win put us in strong position to be no worse than 5-3, with 6-2 a strong possibilty. Though, I hate playing a rival like Washington in between to big road games like SF and Dallas.
I loathe Pete Carrol. What a j@ck@ss that guy is.
ESPN riling the troops is no different from the Iggles’ players making asinine comments about Eli and Osi. They do it for one reason. Make headlines.
Mission accomplished!
The truth is I haven’t heard one pro player say the refs got it right. ( Packers and Seahawks aside)
