Loading ...The New York Giants are two wins away from being crowned Super Bowl champions, but there's little reason to look ahead…yet. Before something like a celebratory parade can even be considered, Big Blue must first go into San Francisco and do away with the 49ers. That's primary objective number one.
Still, that hasn't stopped New Jersey Governor Chris Christie from beginning a campaign to have any championship parade held in the Garden State.
"They play in New Jersey. They train in New Jersey," Christie said.
Captain Obvious went on to add that the only thing New York about the New York Football Giants is the logo on their helmet.
Perhaps Mr. Christie in unfamiliar with the history of the Giants, or perhaps he's just a "clever" (we use this term loosely) politician who wants all the revenue generated from such a parade to be infused into the struggling New Jersey economy. Either way, the idea of a championship parade being held anywhere other than the Canyon or Heroes is a ridiculous one.
On another note, someone should remind Christie that the Big Blue bandwagon is now full. There's no more room for Jets fans who have been abandoning Rex Ryan & Co.
“J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets," Christie said in late December when picking the Jets overs the Giants. "Absolutely. Rex (Ryan) and the boys win by seven."
Christie as a Giants fans? A championship parade in New Jersey? Fuhgeddaboudit!

Manningham has to be a restricted free agent no? If thats the case hes not going anywhere unless the Giants want him to go somewhere, which wont happen. Theyll find the money to keep him. And hopefully find a way to make Osi happy.
And even if they dont pay Osi, hes not getting cut or traded. He’s under contract, and hes seemed to change his attitude since he came back from his ankle injury. Maybe its because hes expecting his payday after his performance or maybe its the run. Who knows.

No, but you are an UFA after 4 years of service. UDFA’s have 3-year contracts under the new CBA, so they could be RFA’s.
All drafted players must have 4 year contracts. I suppose you could also have a drafted player cut after one year, pass through waivers, then signed to a 1-2 year deal. When that contract is up, they would be RFA’s. So if we cut Greg Jones this offseason and he is signed by Philly to a 2 year deal, he would be an RFA at the end of the 2013-2014 season.

Having 3 WRs who can take it the full length of the field is a tremendous offensive advantage … and a fantastic array of weapons for Eli.

I agree with you as well, but am more confident than you that some team will sweep him away. He’s a darn good WR. I’d say easily one of the top 32 in the league. Someone will sign him to be their #1 this offseason.
You have to remember that money won’t be his only goal in free agency. He wants balls thrown his way. He’s third in the pecking order in NY. He could be first elsewhere. He’ll miss having Eli throw to him, but I’d be very surprised if he’s back.

I’m getting more confident about us getting this win this weekend. Our guys are extremely confident and rolling high on momentum. So are the Niners, but we are also a more complete team.
They have a better defense (supposedly), but our defense in the past four games is arguably the best left in the in the tournament. Our offense is clearly better. They have home-field advantage, but that doesn’t do much for them when it comes out our NY Giants! Special teams is about even, maybe slight advantage for the Niners, but slight if anything.
I’m feeling good about us fellas. NY Giants all the way!

I dont know what the effect is going to be , but I heard that SF will have rain for several days . I first thought – oh no gee willikers thats going to hurt Elis chances of shining but then I said golly gee SF will have the same problems so it will come down to a good running game and occasional brilliant throws – so Im going to go with the hottest hand – Eli

As for the article, this NY/NJ stuff gets so damn old. The Giants, as with many (most?) pro sports teams are named after a city, not a state. Many sports teams’ stadiums are not physically located inside the city limits (Cowboys, Bills, Dolphins just off the top of my head).
The New York Giants are named after New York City. East Rutherford, NJ is a suburb of NYC. Heck, I believe they are geographically closer to Time Square than both the Yankees or Mets.
One fat loudmouth deserves another, fitting that he’s a Jet fan. Jersey can have their Super Bowl victory parade (which Rex promises will happen next year).
