Linus Nyman: 2017 NHL Draft Prospect Profile

It’s just about that time of the year where NHL teams start to restock their prospect cupboards! Our New Jersey Devils will not only be gaining a player who could make an immediate impact with their #1 overall pick, but they will also be restocking with the other 9-10 picks that they hold in this year’s entry draft. A later round projected prospect that they might have some interest in is a left shooting, left winger named Linus Nyman.

Who is Linus Nyman?

Linus Nyman was born on July 11, 1999 in Helsinki, Finland. At 5’10″ and 159 pounds, he still has some growing to do to reach what many would deem “NHL size.” As a Finnish born player, Nyman styarted his playing career in the Jokerit system, making his way through their U16, U18 and U20 teams. This past season however saw Linus make his way over to North America, joining the OHL’s Kingston Frontenacs. As an OHL rookie, he amassed 26 goals and 24 assists for a solid 50 points in 68 games, good for 2nd overall in goal scoring for Kingston and 3rd overall in points. According to the available rankings, we have the following current projections for where Linus could go in this summer’s draft:

NHL Central Scouting Services (Final) – North American Skaters: 100
