Martin Brodeur's injured shoulder kept him out of practice Friday and will likely force him to the sidelines for Saturday's game in Nashville against the Predators.

Brodeur indicated to reporters he would likely not dress for the game. The Devils will call up a goalie from the minor leagues to back up Johan Hedberg.

"I've got to see how I’m going to feel,” Brodeur told The Bergen Record. “We have the whole day tomorrow to figure out something. We’ll see. I don’t want to put myself in a position where I have to play if I’m not 100 percent.”

Brodeur said the shoulder was feeling better and he was receiving treatment from the team's medical staff.

“It felt better, but not for me to practice, that’s for sure,” he said. “It’s still pretty sore. There’s definitely improvement from yesterday, just like I expected. I kind of hurt it more than I usually tweak it, so the process of getting back to be 100 percent might take a little longer, but I’m happy that it’s reacting that way. I would have been worried if it had been a lot more sore, but that’s not the case. But it’s sore still.”

The good news for the Devils is following the game in Nashville they are off until hosting the San Jose Sharks on Oct. 21
