For the second time this season, the New England Patriots have released running back Leon Washington. Cornerback Justin Green was promoted from the practice squad in order to fill Washington's roster spot.
Washington has been dealing with an ankle injury since Week 5 and was the odd man out in a crowded backfield that includes Stevan Ridley, Shane Vereen, Legarrette Blount and Brandon Bolden.
The move to promote Green seems like an obvious one considering the Patriots are injured throughout the secondary. Aqib Talib, Kyle Arrington, Alfonzo Dennard and Steve Gregory are all questionable for Sunday's game. Adding Green would give the Patriots depth at the cornerback position, which will be much needed considering the potency of the Denver Broncos passing attack.
