The New England Patriots are going into Sunday's game with little depth at the defensive tackle position. With Tommy Kelly being ruled out for Sunday and Vince Wilfork out for the year, the team is left with first year players and rookies.
After signing defensive tackle Andre Neblett on Wednesday, the team has now announced that they have released Neblett from the 53-man roster in order to promote Marcus Fortson from the practice squad for Sunday's game.
Fortson has been on the practice squad since the season began and he will make his first appearance against the New Orleans Saints.
Like Kanorris Davis and Ja'Gared Davis last week against the Cincinnati Bengals, it should be assumed that Fortson will see most of his playing time on special teams.
