The New England Patriots began their preparation for the Atlanta Falcons on Wednesday without the availability of two players. Erik Scalavino of Patriots Football Weekly reports that wide receiver and special teams ace Matthew Slater and right tackle Sebastian Vollmer missed Wednesday's practice.
Although Slater is set to miss between four and six weeks after breaking his wrist in the Patriots Week 2 victory over the New York Jets, Vollmer's status for Sunday is something to keep an eye on.
Vollmer left the Patriots Week 3 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers towards the end of the first half and sat out the rest of the game. Vollmer left Gillette Stadium in a medical boot. If Vollmer isn;t able to play, expect Marcus Cannon to possibly fill in.
In other injury related news, Rob Gronkowski and Danny Amendola continue to heal from their respective injuries. Scalavino reports that Amendola looked better but is still hampered by the groin injury. So maybe he is a week away from playing, however, Amendola did tell reporters after practice that he is close to 100 percent.
Meanwhile, Gronkowski has made noticable progress since beginning to partake in practice at the beginning of the season. He should be close to full strength, especially after he was listed as questionable heading into last week's game against the Buccaneers.
