While the New England Patriots suffer setback after setback on the offensive side of the ball, the Patriots got their first dose of bad news as it pertains to the defense. Earlier today, Pro Football Talk reports that cornerback Alfonzo Dennard admitted to violating his probation in a court hearing today. This violation pertains to the arrest in July when he was cited for being under the influence while driving in Nebraska.
As the article spells out, the court did not throw Dennard in jail for the admitted violation and he still remains on probation until the sentencing on December 5. However, he also has another hearing set for October 8 pertaining to the DUI charge as he disputes that he did not blow hard enough into the breathalyzer to get an accurate reading. Meanwhile, a prosecutor says that Dennard did that on purpose.
His admission in court could possibly lead to a violation of either the NFL's substance abuse or personal-conduct policy which could then cause Dennard to miss some time.
This isn't Dennard's first run-in with the law as he received a felony for hitting a police officer days before getting drafted by the Patriots.
