The New England Patriots continue to make roster moves even after the 75-man roster deadline. The Patriots announced via their website that they have released cornerback Ras-I Dowling and claimed linebacker Ja'Gared Davis from Houston.
Dowling was the 33rd overall selection out of the University of Virginia in the 2011 NFL Draft. However, Dowling had trouble staying on the field and off the injury list. After starting two games in his rookie season, he was was put on injured reserve because of a hip injury. Last season Dowling appeared in seven games and was then put on injured reserve again as he recovered from a thigh injury.
Davis was signed as rookie free agent by Houston after the 2013 NFL Draft. He starred at Southern Methodist University where he recorded a total of 301 tackles, 20 sacks, four interceptions, eight forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. He also had five touchdowns during his career at SMU.
