After making a series of roster moves yesterday, which included the signing of cornerback Stephon Morris and defensive lineman Scott Vallone and the release of five other players, the Patriots still needed to get under the mandated 75-man roster deadline set for today.
Therefore, the Patriots announced the release of defensive lineman Anthony Rashad White and tight end Evan Landi. With the release of both players the Patriots are now at the league required 75-man roster limit.
Rashad White was signed by the Patriots in the middle of training camp after being released by the Pittsburgh Steelers in early May. White started 16 games at Michigan State where he totaled 65 tackles.
Landi was signed in the middle of training camp by the Patriots after being released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in early June. The rookie free agent started 26 games for South Florida where he had 72 catches for 846 yard and three touchdowns during his career.
The Patriots continue to get ready for their last preseason game against the New York Giants on Thursday and will then cut the roster down to 53 players before the start of the season.
