For the second straight day, wide receiver Danny Amendola was missing from practice. As reported by Erik Scalavino of Patriots Football Weekly, Amendola was not available to the media today and head coach Bill Belichick said that the receiver is 'day-to-day."
Some rumors swirled around the practice facility that Amendola was either being held out of practice in order to keep him healthy or because he was in fact, dealing with an injury. Belichick's comments add for some more intrigue into the wide receiver's status when the Patriots practice one last time before playing the Detroit Lions on Thursday night.
Otherwise all was quiet at Gillette Stadium today as wide receiver Mark Harrison, cornerbacks Ras-I Dowling and Alfonzo Dennard, wide receiver Kamar Aiken, offensive lineman Marcus Cannon, tight end Daniel Fells and defensive end Justin Francis were all seen doing rehab exercises with assistant strength and conditioning coach Moses Cabrera.
Tomorrow's practice should be interesting to see if Amendola misses a third straight day of practice, especially one before the Patriots third preseason game. It is well known that the starters from both teams will see the most action of the preseason in this third game and having Amendola out would add more question marks to an offense that already has quite a few already.
