A day after cutting rookie tight end Brandon Ford, the Patriots brought in another rookie tight end to their squad. Rookie free agent Evan Landi was originally signed by Tampa Bay after the draft but was then released in June. He played at South Florida where he had 72 catches for 846 yards and three touchdowns in 46 games.
With the signing of Landi, the Patriots had to make room for the rookie free agent and therefore cut defensive lineman Jason Vega. Vega was signed in the offseason after playing the last two years in the CFL for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Vega was supposed to be an interesting addition coming into training camp, however, it seemed he did not impress the coaches enough to keep him on the roster.
The New England Patriots continue to practice against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this week as they prepare for their next preseason game against the Buccaneers.
