NASCAR released its 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule on Tuesday evening and included in the announcement are a few changes.

The biggest move is NASCAR's historic Labor Day weekend event. The last three seasons the Labor Day weekend event has been held at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Beginning in the 2015 season, the Labor Day weekend event will move to Darlington Raceway and the Southern 500. The race will be reunited with the weekend after an 11 year hiatus. From 1950 to 2003 the Southern 500 was run on Labor Day weekend and was one of NASCAR's most historic events. NASCAR hopes the move will regenerate that feeling.

Atlanta Motor Speedway will move it's sole date on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule to the second week of the season and will run on March 1st. Also announced in the move is a unique triple-header weekend at the facility. Atlanta will hold two races on Saturday, February 28th, hosting both a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event and a NASCAR Nationwide Series event. In the move Atlanta Motor Speedway hopes to attract fans coming home from Daytona International Speedway.

Phoenix International Raceway's Spring event will move to the fourth race of the season instead of the second and Bristol Motor Speedway's Spring event will move to April instead of mid-March in hopes of bringing better weather to the facility. In recent years the Spring event has endured some weather issues and moving it to a warmer time of the year should help attract more fans. Bristol will be run on Sunday, April 19th.

The only other change on the schedule is the traditional July race at Daytona International Speedway which will move from Saturday night to Sunday night. The race will be run on Sunday, July 5th. The 10 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races will remain the same.
