After five heat races and one last chance race the field is set for the 1-800-Car-Cash Mudsummer Classic at Eldora Speedway. Qualifying set the field for the heat races and the heat races set the field for the last chance qualifier.
In each race there were four trucks locked into the field and one driver, not already locked into the race by their owner points, had the potential to lock themselves into the race.
In the first heat race Erik Jones and Darrell Wallace Jr paced the field with Kyle Larson finishing third in the first heat race. JR. Heffner finished fourth in the heat the race, locking himself into his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event. Finishing fifth in the event was Jody Knowles. Ben Kennedy finished seventh in the heat race but was locked into the feature via his owner points.
In the second heat race Jeb Burton won with Joey Coulter finishing in the second position. Finishing in the third position was Mason Mingus and Gray Gaulding finished fourth. The top four drivers were locked into the feature via their owner points. Locking themselves into the feature was the #03 truck of Mike Affarano who finished fifth in the heat race. John Wes Townley and Cody Erickson did not transfer into the race and would have to try and make the race via the Last Chance Qualifier.
In the third heat race Ron Hornaday Jr was victorious. Tyler Reddick finished in the second spot with Ty Dillon finishing third. Dillon is in one of two Richard Childress Racing's entries in the field. Dillon locked himself into the feature in the heat race. Michael Annett and Jennifer Jo Cobb did not make the feature by the heat race and had to qualify via the last chance showdown. Finishing in the sixth spot in the heat race was Chase Pistone.
In the fourth heat race Ryan Blaney beat Matt Crafton and Timothy Peters. Austin Dillon finished in the fourth spot, locking himself in the feature to defend his victory last season. Norm Benning and Jared Landers did not transfer and had to move to the last chance qualifier.
In the last heat race Johnny Sauter beat Ken Schrader. Tyler Young finished third and did not transfer to the feature by the final heat race because that went to Schrader. Young had to make the feature by the last chance qualifier.
In the last chance qualifier the top five drivers, of the nine truck field, would transfer into the feature. Jared Landers did not compete due to a crash earlier in the day. In the last chance qualifier John Wes Townley defeated Tyler Young and Jody Knowles. The other two drivers to transfer into the feature were Norm Benning and Michael Annett.
