DRG Motorsports has signed Joe Nemechek to drive the team's No. 86 NASCAR Nationwide Series entry this weekend at Richmond International Raceway in the ToyotaCare 250 on Friday, May 25th. BUBBA burgers will serve as the primary sponsor on the Chevrolet.
BUBBA burgers, the nation's #1 branded frozen hamburgers, will also serve as primary sponsor on the No. 86 DRG Motorsports Chevrolet at the May 24th Nationwide Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway and the June 27th race at Kentucky Speedway.
The 50-year-old Nemechek is a veteran of 421 starts in the NASCAR Nationwide Series with his first series start dating back to 1989. He has recorded 16 career wins in the Nationwide Series with the last of those coming in 2004. He also has 18 poles.
Nemechek has scaled back his Nationwide Series schedule so far this season. He has only competed in two of the seven races driving his own No. 87 Toyota. He finished 12th at Daytona and 19th at Bristol.
His driving schedule has still been plenty busy with Nemechek running the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule for the 22nd straight season. He has made five of the eight races in the No. 66 Toyota.
In addition to the Sprint Cup and Nationwide action Nemechek is splitting a Camping World Truck Series ride with his son John Hunter Nemechek. Joe will run at the tracks where his son his ineligible to compete due to not being 18 yet. At Daytona Nemechek started the season with an eighth place finish.
