Team Penske Announces Ryan Blaney Will Make Sprint Cup Debut, 15 Nationwide Races as Well

It was the third day of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series media tour and Team Penske was up with an announcement about their 20-year-old development driver Ryan Blaney. Blaney, a third generation driver out of North Carolina, will be driving a Team Penske Ford in 15 NASCAR Nationwide Series races in the 2014 season. 

Blaney has made 16 career NASCAR Nationwide Series starts in his career and has one career win which came at Kentucky Speedway in 2013. His first start of the 2014 NASCAR Nationwide Series season will come at Bristol Motor Speedway in March. The remainder of his Nationwide Series schedule will be announced at a later date. 

Not only will Blaney be driving in the Nationwide Series the team also announced that Blaney will make his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut at Kansas Speedway in May. Blaney will drive a #12 Ford sponsored by SKF. Blaney will also run the Sprint Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway in October.

"I'm really looking forward to racing more in the Nationwide Series and it will be a dream come true for me to race in the Sprint Cup Series. In addition to his Nationwide Series and Sprint Cup Series schedule Blaney will run a full season in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driving a Ford F-150 for Brad Keselowski, Blaney's teammate at Team Penske

"We believe Ryan is one of the most promising young drivers in NASCAR and we want to continue his growth and development with Team Penske," said team owner Roger Penske. "Ryan's win at Kentucky in the No. 22 car last year showed what he is capable of and we hope to experience many more moments in Victory Lane with him in the coming seasons."
