JGL Racing Formed; Nationwide Team to Run Mike Wallace and Matt Carter at Daytona

On Monday Gregg Mixon and James Whitner announced the formation of a new NASCAR Nationwide Series team called JGL Racing. The team will attempt to run two full time teams in the 2014 season.

Veteran driver Mike Wallace will drive the team's No. 28 entry in the Drive4COPD 300 at Daytona International Speedway and Matt Carter will drive the No. 93 entry.

The 54-year-old Wallace has made 482 career starts in the Nationwide Series and has competed six of the last seven seasons in the series full time. He has scored four career wins, three in 1994 and one in 2004. Wallace has also made 190 career Sprint Cup Series starts and 115 career Camping World Truck Series starts with five Truck wins.

Carter, a 32-year-old, has made 42 career starts in the Nationwide Series. His last starts were in the 2012 season for Rick Ware Racing. He also is a winner in the ARCA Racing Series back in the 2008 season when he went to victory lane at Toledo Speedway driving for Larry Clement.

Carl Long will serve as the team's Director of Competition and JGL Racing has purchased Penske cars and will use the Penske Engine Lease Program. The team has sponsorship open on both cars.
