On Thursday Empire Racing announced that 21-year-old Jacob Engle will drive for the team full-time in the 2014 ARCA Racing Series. Over the past three seasons Engle has been racing late models in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at Myrtle Beach Speedway. In his late model career he has made 60 starts with three wins, four poles, and 58 top 10 finishes.
“I’m really looking forward to working with Empire Racing,” said Engle. “They had great results last year and I’m confident that with the relationship between Roush-Yates Engines and Empire we are going to have a very successful program.”
Engle tested for the team at Daytona International Speedway during the pre-holiday test in December. Empire racing is stationed in Goshen, NY with a shop also in Mooresville, NC. The organization opened in 2009.
The team also said that Engle could race in some NASCAR Camping World Truck Series events in 2014 as well.
Also on Friday, Fox Motorsports DGR announced that 27-year-old NEMCO Motorsports developmental driver Bobby Grewohl will drive their No. 86 Chevrolet during the full ARCA Racing Series in 2014. The team will have sponsorship from 989 On Demand, Black Clover Clothing, and RainEater Wiper Blades.
“I’m looking forward to driving the Fox Motorsports DRG Chevrolet this season,” Grewohl said. “And I’m looking forward to representing 989 On Demand, Black Clover Clothing, and Rain Eater wiper blades in all of the events in 2014. I’m thankful to be associated with Joe Nemechek, and I appreciate his efforts to advance my driving career.”
