Wes Gonder Racing will compete in the ARCA Racing Series in 2014 with 33-year-old veteran short-track driver Clay Rogers behind the wheel of the No. 38 Ford. Also 18-year-old Tyler Lester will be mentored by Rogers and the team and Lester is scheduled to compete in at least two ARCA races in 2014.

Founded in 2011 and based in Mooresville, NC Wes Gonder Racing competed in the Pro Cup Series and also made its ARCA debut in 2012 with a 12th place finish at Talladega.

Rogers is a five-time champion of the Pro Cup Series (2004, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2013). He has scored 36 wins and 99 top five finishes in 177 career Pro Cup Series starts. In 2013 he scored six wins and 12 top fives in the 14 races to win his fifth title. He has made 13 career starts in the ARCA Racing Series between 2003 and 2012. He has four career top 10 finishes with a best of fourth at Iowa Speedway in 2012.

He also has NASCAR experience 12 career Nationwide starts and 36 career Camping World Truck Series starts. His best Truck Series finish was a third at Daytona in 2011 and the majority of his races came in Ricky Benton's No. 92 Truck. The veteran looks forward to helping the young Tyler Lester this season.

“I enjoy working with young guys who want to learn everything about this sport,” Rogers said. “He's out here getting dirty and working on the car so he'll be able to know how to make the car better. I am not interested in working with kids who show up with money and spend the whole day in the hauler playing video games until it is time to drive. Tyler has the right attitude and it is going to be fun mentoring him.”

Lester has won seven championships in his various series he has participated in so far. Those include go-karts, Legend Cars, Limited Late Models, and Pro Cup cars.

“It is going to be very cool working with Clay,” Lester said. “When I moved to the South I watched him race and have always looked up to him for his racing skill. I appreciate that he knows so much about the race car and is willing to help me understand how it all works together to make a successful, race winning car.”

The complete schedule that Rogers and Lester will race in will be announced once full details are finalized by Wes Gonder Racing. WGR has said it is committed to competing for ARCA wins and developing new talent.
