Six-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson finished third in The Associated Press' Male Athlete of the Year voting. LeBron James won the award for the 2013 year with 31 votes and Peyton Manning finished second with 20 votes.
Johnson garnered seven of the 96 votes cast by news organizations. The AP Male Athlete of the Year has been given out annually since 1931.
The driver of the No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet tweeted about finishing third in a post that read, "So I'm told the @AP or @AP_Sports ranked me as the 3rd best athlete of 2013 .. not bad for a non-athlete."
Johnson of course was taking a jab at former NFL Quarterback and current FOX Sports Live analyst Donovan McNabb who said Johnson was not an athlete.Athlete of the Year, Donovan McNabb, Hendrick Motorsports, Jimmie Johnson, LeBron James, Motorsports, NASCAR, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Peyton Manning, The Associated Press
