Chase Elliott had crossed the start-finish line first on Sunday afternoon and had won his second Snowball Derby. That was until post race inspection. In post race inspection Elliott's car was found to have a piece of tungsten in his car which is against the rules in the Snowball Derby.
Elliott's crew chief Ricky Turner commented on the situation.
"It was an oversight on my part. I messed up," Turner said.
2012 Snowball Derby winner Erik Jones has been declared the winner of the Snowball Derby. Jones finished second to Elliott in the race and after his car passed post race inspection he was declared the winner.
Elliott will be credited with a finish of 37th in the Snowball Derby after the disqualification. It wipe's away Elliott becoming the first driver to sweep the Snowball Derby 300 and Snowflake 100 in the same weekend.
According to reports Snowball Derby Officials were alerted of the piece tungsten by another team.
