Chase Elliott took the pole for Sunday's Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida. Elliott set a new track record in the process taking the pole at a time of 16.113 seconds. Elliott was the second to last car to take time for the premier short track race in the country and beat out Bubba Pollard for the pole.
Starting in the third position is John Hunter Nemechek with youngster Daniel Hemric starting in the fourth position. Augie Grill will start from the fifth position with Casey Smith starting in the sixth position. Austin Theriault will start seventh with Sprint Cup Series regular David Ragan starting in the eighth position. Starting from the ninth position is Zak Hausler and Grant Enfinger will roll off the from the tenth position.
Other notables in the field include Ross Kenseth in 11th and defending Snowball Derby winner Erik Jones in 12th. Kyle Benjamin will start 14th with Ben Kennedy starting from the 16th position. NASCAR K&N Pro West Series champion Derek Thorn will start from the 22nd position with Johanna Long starting from the 23rd position. Veteran Mike Garvey will start from the 27th position and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Landon Cassill will start 29th. Anderson Bowen took the 30th spot and was the last driver locked into the field on his time.
Three drivers took provisionals to make the field and they are Chris Davidson, Donnie Wilson and former winner Clay Rogers.
There were 57 entries to try to make the Snowball Derby meaning that 25 drivers will have to run in the last chance race on Saturday afternoon to try to qualify for the Snowball Derby. The top four from the last chance race will make the race.
Notable drivers in the last chance race include ARCA Series regular Mason Mingus, D.J. Vanderlay, Kyle Grissom, Chris Wimmer, Cale Gale and Dakoda Armstrong.
The Snowball Derby will run on Sunday at 2 p.m ET.
