On Thursday Sebastien Bourdais signed a two-year contract to drive for the IndyCar Series KVSH Racing team. He leaves Dragon Racing to join the team that 2013 Indy 500 winner Tony Kanaan is leaving.

Bourdais will race the 2013 MAVTV 500 season finale at Auto Club Speedway for Dragon Racing.

“The fact that I have an agreement with KVSH Racing so early, and that I have a two-year contract, shows the team’s commitment to their new era in the IndyCar Series," Bourdais said. "I am looking forward to meeting the crew and getting started with testing as soon as possible. I also want to thank Dragon Racing for their support over the last two seasons. I wish them the best of luck in the future.”

The 34-year-old Frenchman has scored three podium finishes in 2013 for Dragon Racing and is 12th in the point standings entering the final race on Saturday night.

Kanaan announced he would be joining Chip Ganassi's team for 2014 on October 4th which opened the seat at KV Racing Technology. Simona De Silvestro has been in the second KV Racing Technology car in 2013.

“I am very pleased and proud to say that we have Sebastien Bourdais driving a KVSH Racing car,” team owner Jimmy Vasser said. “I have raced against him and can say without a doubt that he is an exceptional driver and a true champion. We look forward to winning a lot of races with him.”

Bourdais won 31 Champ Car races from 2003 to 2007 and four straight championships from 2004 to 2007. He competed in Formula 1 in 2008 and 2009 before moving back to IndyCar racing in 2011.

Businessman James Sullivan will join Vasser and Kevin Kalkhoven as team principals which is why the team name has changed from KV Racing Technology to KVSH Racing.
