NASCAR announced the 2014 Sprint Cup Series schedule on Tuesday. The sport also announced that the Air Titan track drying system will be available at every racetrack in 2014.
The Sprint Cup Series will run 36 races in 2014 as it has since the 2001 season. The season will start with Budweiser Speedweeks in Daytona starting with the Sprint Unlimited on February 15th. Speedweeks will end on February 23rd with the 56th running of the Daytona 500 on Fox. The only major change for the Sprint Cup Series is that Kansas and Darlington will swap their dates as Kansas' April date will now go to Darlington and Kansas will move to Mothers' Day Weekend, where Darlington used to be. The Southern 500 at Darlington will be run on April 12th, while Kansas' Spring race will be run on May 10th.
The Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup will again begin at Chicagoland Speedway on September 14th and it will end at Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 16th.
In 2014 the television network status will stay the same as FOX, TNT and ESPN are all back with their dates for Sprint Cup Series races. Fox will show 13 race beginning with the Daytona 500 on February 23rd and concluding at Dover on June 1st. The Sprint Unlimited and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series All-Star Race will be shown on FoxSports1. The All-Star race will remain at Charlotte Motor Speedway and be ran on May 17th the weekend prior to the Coca-Cola 600. TNT will take over after Dover doing six races through the July 13th race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. ESPN will then begin it's 17 race stretch at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the annual Brickyard 400 on July 27th. ESPN will hold all 10 Chase races including the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
It was announced earlier in the 2013 season that TNT and ESPN will no longer host NASCAR races following the 2014 season and that NBC and NBC Sports Network will host the races beginning in 2015.
