Greg Pursley won for the fourth time in the 2013 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West season on Saturday night at NAPA Speedway in Albuquerque. It is the 17th win of his career and he also moved into second place in the points with three races remaining in the season. His four wins are the most in the series this season.
Three drivers led more laps than Pursley's 24 in the NAPA Auto Parts 150 but he led the final 23 laps from lap 128 to 150 after passing Derek Thorn.
Thorn started from the pole and led the first three laps before Pursley passed him to lead lap 4. Eric Holmes then went in front and led from lap 5 to 32. Carl Harr then led laps 33 and 34 and then JD White took the top spot for laps 35 to 40 before Carl Harr took the lead back. Harr would lead from lap 41 through 89 and then Derek Thorn went back to the lead for the second time. Thorn led until Pursley made the pass on lap 128 on the low side.
Pursley won by a margin of 1.317 seconds over Thorn. Cameron Hayley finished third, Eric Homes fourth, and Michael Self fifth. Taylor Cuzick took sixth, Dylan Lupton seventh, and Chase Briscoe was the last lead lap car in eighth. Carl Harr, who led the most laps, finished ninth and John Wood was tenth. JD White, who led six laps, finished three laps off the pace in 11th.
After 12 of the 15 races Derek Thorn leads the points by 20 over Greg Pursley. Cameron Hayley is also in the mix for the title as he is third in points only 21 behind Thorn. Michael Self is only 29 points back in fourth. Dylan Lupton rounds out the top five but is 60 points back.
