Dale Earnhardt Jr won the pole for Sunday's AAA 400 at Dover International Speedway, Friday when the third generation driver out of Kannapolis, North Carolina set a new track record at a speed of 161.849 mph. It's Earnhardt's 13th career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series pole and his first at Dover.
Starting alongside Earnhardt on the front row is Matt Kenseth. Starting third is Ryan Newman and Carl Edwards will roll off from the fourth position. Starting in the fifth spot is Aric Almirola and Brad Keselowski will start from the sixth position. Starting seventh is Jamie McMurray and Jimmie Johnson will roll off from the eighth position. Starting ninth is Kurt Busch and Martin Truex Jr rounds out the top ten.
Joey Logano will start from the 11th position with Kevin Harvick starting in the 12th position. Starting 13th is Juan Pablo Montoya and Kyle Busch will start from the 14th position. Ricky Stenhouse Jr starts from the 15th position with Jeff Gordon starting 16th. Starting 17th is AJ Allmendinger and Denny Hamlin will roll off from the 18th position. Starting in the 19th spot is Greg Biffle and Kasey Kahne rounds out the top 20.
Other notables in the field include Clint Bowyer in 23rd, Mark Martin in 29th and Danica Patrick in 31st.
There were 43 entries for the AAA 400 at Dover so all drivers that qualified made the field.
The AAA 400 begins at 2:15 p.m. ET on Sunday.
