Turn One Racing announced Monday that the team has a new crew chief in place for Dakoda Armstrong prior to the Smith's 350 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Veteran crew chief Doug George joins the team after former crew chief Joe Shear Jr left the team to help Cole Custer's transformation to the Truck Series in 2014.
George brings a wealth of experience to the organization having been on the pit box for 136 truck races in his career. He has two wins to his credit both coming with Kyle Busch at Billy Ballew Motorsports in 2009. George has worked for several organizations in his career including Billy Ballew Motorsports, Kevin Harvick Incorporated and Turner Motorsports among others.
This is the third crew chief that Turn One Racing has had this season. Gere Kennon started the season with the organization and he was replaced by Shear at Pocono. The team will run the remaining six races of the season with George as their crew chief.
Armstrong currently sits 12th in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series point standings. He has two top ten finishes in the 2013 season, including a seventh at Martinsville in April, which is his best finish of the season. The team currently sits 14th in the owner points standings, well ahead of the top 30 cut off point which guarantees teams into the race.
