Ryan Newman is on the pole for Sunday's Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. It's Newman's 51st career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series pole and his second of his 2013 season. Newman will be on the front row with Kasey Kahne. Newman set a new track record with his lap at a speed of 136.497 mph.
Starting in the third position is Jeff Gordon. Starting fourth is Kurt Busch and Martin Truex Jr will round out the top five. Starting sixth is Joey Logano and Paul Menard is starting in the seventh position. Kevin Harvick is starting in the eighth position. Starting ninth is Matt Kenseth and Greg Biffle is tenth.
Starting in the 11th position is Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch will start in the 12th position. Starting in the 13th position is Aric Almirola with Denny Hamlin starting in the 14th position. Starting 15th is Juan Pablo Montoya and Clint Bowyer will start in the 16th position. Starting in the 17th position is Dale Earnhardt Jr with Mark Martin starting 18th, David Ragan 19th and Brad Keselowski starts 20th.
Other notables in the field include, Danica Patrick in 21st and Kevin Swindell in 33rd. Swindell will make his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut for Swan Racing. Swindell is a well known dirt track racer and is the son of Sprint Car legend Sammy Swindell.
Josh Wise hit the wall hard in his qualifying session and will start 43rd. Something broke on Wise's front end and the car turned suddenly right and slammed the wall off turn four. The team will use a backup car.
There were 43 cars for 43 positions meaning no cars went home.
The Sylvania 300 will begin Sunday at 2:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
